SEACHROME

SeaChrome™ is a proprietary coating system developed by Northeast Metal Works that offers an alternative to traditional chrome plating that is lower-cost and environmentally friendly.

SeaChrome provides outstanding salt-spray corrosion resistance on stainless steel substrates. It is ideally suited for marine and other outdoor applications, particularly in applications on stainless steel where greater than 3000 hours of salt spray corrosion resistance is required.

Finish and Processing Options

Barrel SeaChrome

This unique coating system uses a multilayer approach consisting of a special formulation of nickel base layers followed by a tin cobalt surface finish. A key advantage of SeaChrome is that it can be applied on our high capacity barrel plating line.

Compared with chrome plating which requires more expensive rack plating to assure a uniform coating, barrel plating offers a much more cost-effective approach. We can apply SeaChrome on stainless and carbon steel, brass and copper substrates offering an appealing aesthetic appearance with stronger corrosion resistance than nickel or chrome.

Corrosion Resistance

Northeast Metal Works plating service has the capability to perform salt spray corrosion resistance testing according to ASTM B117 on our finished parts. SeaChrome coated stainless steel parts achieve up to 5000 hours of protection against attack on the substrate in the salt spray test depending on the part design.

We are a “one-stop” shop able to manage the logistics of your finishing needs from cleaning through third-party heat treatment and, finally, through our plating and post-plating processes. We offer quick turnarounds on our high volume barrel plating lines.
